I learned a valuable life lesson a couple weeks agoā¦never underestimate how much a donut can cost. letās consider: the famous CRONUTĀ®Ā®Ā®Ā® at Dominique Ansel Bakery is $7.75. the best donuts in the world at PVDonuts are $4.25. the spider donut at Dunkin is $2.99. so Iāve lived my life thinking that the most expensive donut must be less than one hour of minimum wage.
Iām at Smorgasburg. I love Smorgasburg. I see a new tent with donuts, fun unique flavors. I pick out two flavors (itās a minimum order of two). there is a small sign with a smudged scribbly price list, of course I only glance at it after Iāve handed them my card (they do not show me the total). Iām not strapped for cash, why would I check the prices of donuts? but I get a sinking feeling, and I check my credit card app. I just paid $37.25 for 2 donuts.
I just paid over $18 per donut. I just paid double the federal minimum wage on flour, eggs, butter, sugar. it would be over $200 for a dozen. IāM SORRY? my jaw: dropped. my stomach: hurts. the donuts: just fine. do I need to split them in half and save the rest in my freezer to eat a year later like a wedding cake? pleaseā¦stick to catering blackrock daughter wedding receptions or luxury boutique grand openings, not prospect parkās humble open air food market.

Letās kick it off with some Halloween candy.Ā Iāve mentioned my love for Walgreens peelable gummies before - which are actually officially white-labeled from the name brand & Tiktok famous Peelerz! The mango, lemon, and kiwi are probably my favorite. Honestly, I was a little let down by these spooky flavors. They all generally have a Dollar Tree candy flavor ā not the same level of quality as the fruity flavors. š§āāļø Mummy: the best of the bunch, with 3 varieties per bag. š Pumpkin: I donāt know what I expected, it is like a vanilla pumpkin spice flavor if you like that. š Sweet Potato: a bit of a different peel texture, and weirdly savory, but some people might love it!

This barista blend oat milk is very nutmeg forward, a little sweet, and has real pumpkin puree in it! Iām not the biggest fan of flavored lattes, but this is nicely lightly flavored and a fun change for fall. Do you like my attempt at pumpkin latte art? š§”
Trader Joeās Pumpkin Cookie Dough

These are the crunchy (but soft) all-natural version of Pillsbury seasonal cookies that are actually kind of hard to find around here? Instead of Red-40 etc etc etc these are colored with turmeric & anatto. The result ends up looking less like a pumpkin and more like an egg. Which I also like ! They taste just like the Pillsbury formula, but maybe Iām imagining less chemicals ?
