Oreo Coca-Cola (zero)
$2.89 – Brooklyn, NY
I wanted to hate this. Yet I knew, deep down, I would love it. I’m sorry to say that it’s really good. Coke and Oreo really did something here. It somehow perfectly blends the Oreo and Coke flavor. But we’re all questioning…why Coke Zero? Two guesses: to boost Coke Zero sales, because who buys Coke Zero? Or, a sinister intention, that we’re meant to drink this alongside the Coca-Cola Oreos (see below), and 4 Oreos and a full-sugar Coke would kill a man. Personally, I would never feel the urge to pair a soda with a cookie. All that to say, this soda made me realize that somewhere in the Mondelez universe there’s an Oreo concentrate that could be added to anything. What’s next? Oreo Sour Patch Kids? Oreo Topo-Chico? Oreo Hard Seltzer? I would buy any of those. Would I actually reach for the Oreo Coke Zero again? Probably not…but I do think that everyone should try to find it and tell me what you think.
Coca-Cola Oreo
$6.29 – Brooklyn, NY
Of course, I wanted to wait to review the full Oreo Coke collab together, so I was happy to buy literally the last box (container? thing?) of Coke Oreos at my local grocery store. I’m the kind of weirdo who follows junk food instagram accounts that share the latest snack releases, so I’ve been looking forward to this collab for a while, and finally something is actually available in NYC! So unlike the Coke Zero, these Oreos don’t really remind me much of Coke. They have kind of a lemon-lime flavor and pop rocks in the filling. If it weren’t for the pop rocks, I would probably like these a lot more. The sensation of pop rocks fizzing in your teeth for minutes after you’ve chewed is so weird. These are definitely a novelty flavor, but I’m still glad I was able to find them.
Herbed Stuffing Terra Chips
$3.79 – Whole Foods, Manhattan, NY
🍁Fall is here🍁 and I’m a sucker for Thanksgiving flavors. I even have several Thanksgiving scented candles, so sorry if you come over to my house and it smells like mashed potatoes and stuffing. I love Terra Chips but I rarely buy them because I’ll eat the whole bag in one sitting (which is like, 12 chips, come on.) The sweet potato really works with the buttery sage and rosemary flavor, but I find these to be a little greasier than regular Terra chips.
Field Roast Miniature Corn Dogs
$9.89 – Whole Foods, Manhattan, NY
I loveeee a corn dog. I remember having the frozen State Fair brand as an after school snack when I was a kid, but I don’t really eat pork or beef anymore so they’re always a forbidden temptation for me now. This was an impulse buy, but it’s one of those things you only buy at Whole Foods because you can’t find it at your local (cheaper) grocery store. FYI I have pretty low expectations for plant-based hot dogs, but Field Roast is premium stuff. These are really good, crispy and chewy, and you probably wouldn’t think they’re vegan. I would buy these again as a treat 🤪
Ghia Non-Alcoholic Apertif
TBH I’m not sure how much these cost or where you can find them – because I just started working in a bougie building where they stock these in our mini fridge for free 🤷I’ve seen these around, but never had the urge to spend money to try them. This is the original Ghia flavor, but they also make a few more. As a soda, I think it’s tasty! It’s a nice mix of sweet, bitter (because it is an aperitif), and a mix of a bunch of different flavors – I guess grape as the main flavor. It’s interesting to me in this age of non-soda sodas, that this brand doesn’t boast probiotics, adaptogens, cbd, or even caffeine. It’s just a non-alcoholic bev to hold when you don’t want to drink. I’m not sure when I would actually drink this again, but it does make me feel so Julia.
10 bullet points or less:
oreo coke is kind of non-alcoholic apertif as well , if u think about it
